How To Install Drupal In 20 Seconds Or Less!

Alright this is Chad and if you are here, you’re probably wanting to know how to install Drupal quickly. Now when I got started with Drupal I tell you I’d spent days and even up to a week on this thing. Trying to remember 5 years back when I first started Drupal, and it’s not an easy thing to figure out how to install Drupal sometimes, and so I’m going to show you this. So much quicker than what I did if it took you a day to figure it out. You and I are going to figure it out in less than 20 seconds.

Now let me give you the first step in getting your Drupal site set up.

First thing you need to do is look over to your right and there is a big button that says HostGator. Click on that button buy their host and there are two reasons I’m suggesting you buy Host Gator.

First of all:
Their customer service is excellent! Every time I call them they’re right there, they work with you quickly.

The second thing: HostGator is really fast.

I’ve had some Drupal sites on other hosts and it runs very, very slow not only will that hurt you in Google ranking but it’s just annoying to sit there and click and wait and wait and wait. Host Gator is very, very fast and so those are the two reasons I would highly recommend Host Gator.

So once you’ve done that you’re going to buy the domain and they are going to give you a free domain name like a dot com, dot org, dot net whatever you decide. And once you’ve set all that up they’ll give you an email back. They’ll give you a login user name and password and that will take you to the C panel. This is called the C panel here for those that are really new to web design and all it does is use your interface to manage your web hosts.

Okay, so that’s the step buy your host, get your free domain whenever you buy it, I say free because it comes with the hosting, it’s built into the price. And then get your email and then click on the link log in here and once you’re through that point……..

Let me show you how easy it is to set up Drupal - scroll down and go to Quick install, that’s exactly what it means. Click here and if you’re looking at the newest set of Drupal, the newest Build a Drupal, that’s Drupal 7, then you push continue. And most likely we are only going to have one domain in here and when you go to that domain don’t put anything in here unless you know how to redirect the domain to a sub folder, so leave that blank. And then put in your admin email. Now this is because they’re going to take this email and put this in Drupal for you so that if you forget the user name and your password they can email that to you. So I’m going to go ahead and do that. Alright once you have that set up click Install now. And look at that. Just like that you have your new Drupal site up and running.

Now let’s test it! Here’s your user name and password and so let’s go over here and I had done a test earlier. Alright so I went to seventeenthbirthdayideas.com that happens to be the one that I was using and you’ll notice this little error. Now what this is, is I’ve talked to the Host Gator customer service and all this is, is because you have no content on your site and you haven’t logged in, it’s something to do with that it’s not a permanent error.

So let’s come back over here, copy that user name. I’d recommend changing that user name makes it harder to hack. And then you just come back over here, grab that password, put it in, log in. And notice right away that the error went away. There, and so now you can add new content, you’ve got this nice little Menu bar.

Drupal is an excellent way to go. Actually I like Drupal a lot so there you go! 20 seconds you can have your first Drupal site up.
